SECR: Everything You Need to Know to be Compliant

Monday, 18 January 2021 by Claire Gomersall
SECR

This FREE webinar will give you all the information you need to become SECR compliant including what you need to calculate, what you need to report and how to report it.  We will also tell you how you can use SECR as an opportunity to reduce your business’s carbon footprint, save energy and money as well as demonstrating your commitment to the fight against climate change.

There will be an ‘Ask the Experts’ session at the end which will give you the opportunity to find answers to any questions you have about SECR and how to ensure you are compliant with this legislation.

What is SECR?

Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) legislation requires qualifying organisations to  include their carbon emissions and energy consumption from the buildings, fleet and processes they are responsible for in their consolidated end of year accounts.

Is my business required to report under SECR?

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy estimate that approximately 11,900 businesses will need to include a SECR statement within their end of year accounts. These are businesses that have an energy consumption >40,000 kWh per annum and are:

  • LLP or quoted UK company of any size that is obliged to report under mandatory greenhouse gas reporting regulations;
  • A registered or unregistered unquoted company that meets at least two of the following criteria:
    • employ more than 250 employees;
    • a turnover of at least £36 million
    • a balance sheet total of at least £18 million

See www.sustainablefootprints.co.uk/secr for more information about SECR.
