What is SECR?
Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) legislation requires qualifying organisations to include their carbon emissions and energy consumption from the buildings, fleet and processes they are responsible for in their consolidated end of year accounts.
Is my business required to report under SECR?
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy estimate that approximately 11,900 businesses will need to include a SECR statement within their end of year accounts. These are businesses that have an energy consumption >40,000 kWh per annum and are:

LLP or quoted UK company of any size that is obliged to report under mandatory greenhouse gas reporting regulations;

A registered or unregistered unquoted company that meets at least two of the following criteria:

employ more than 250 employees;

a turnover of at least £36 million

a balance sheet total of at least £18 million
